About
FIONA CHONG is a photographer and film producer from Singapore. She practises photography as a meditation on death, focusing on existentialism and the metaphysical. Her work explores the impermanence of life and the inevitable passage of time, inviting viewers to confront their own perceptions of existence and mortality in an unfiltered world.
Driven by a commitment to authenticity, she seeks out moments that are poignant and transient, illuminating the ephemeral beauty found in moments of decay and transformation. She strives to create images that evoke a quiet, contemplative mood and a sense of muted melancholy through their surreal and psychologically charged nature. Through this lens, ordinary scenes become profound reflections on the delicate interplay between life and death.
Her work offers a space for introspection, encouraging the viewer to embrace the fleeting nature of existence, reflect on the silent truths that define our understanding of being and to find meaning in its impermanence.
Fiona is an Emmy® Award Winner in The 38th Boston/New England Emmy® Awards as the Producer & Editor for "The Wonderful World of Oz", a short-form documentary film.
Selected prints from her Alternative Processes work have also been published in Christina Z. Anderson's books on Gum Printing and Salted Paper Printing.
For the past decade, she has produced and edited documentary films and branded content in both the USA and Singapore. She holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from The National University of Singapore and graduated from the Professional Certificate Program at Maine Media College in Rockport, Maine, USA, where she concentrated in Photography, Multimedia and Alternative Processes (Gum, Platinum, Salt, Wet Plate Collodion).
Fiona is available for commissions and projects.
